Soiled / contaminated items are placed into a Biozaq bag and sealed (for transport). The sealed bag is then loaded into the washing machine. The bag dissolves in the wash and the clothes are cleaned.

This material looks like common polyethylene plastics, though it is STRONGER, NON TOXIC, FULLY COMPOSTABLE... AND WILL EVEN DISSOLVE IN WATER.  No 'plastics litter'/microplastic pollution; naturally & safely biodegrading on land, and naturally and safely dissolving in marine environments.

How it works

Our Certifications

We make plastic bags that dissolve in water.  Water-soluble, biodegradable, and non-toxic super bags.

BioZaq Poly is an American manufacturer of water-soluble resins, films & BAGS.

The amazing properties of our bags allows for some spectacular applications.

Super T-shirt Bags

Carry home groceries. Reuse to hold kitchen compost, & then throw the entire bag into a backyard compost bin (or reuse bags several times, & then simply dissolve in warm water when worn).

Soiled Linen Laundry Bags

Used for commercial collection of laundry, especially with medical uniforms and facilities with soiled linens. Minimizes human contact with contents. (Barrier film for pathogens/C19, excellent for laundry with bed bugs or saturated liquid waste).

Detergent Pods

Used for individual, premeasured content pods, such as laundry detergent pods, agricultural applications, and dissolvable creamer packets for coffee by hotels.

Certified Compostable, Dissolves In Water, Non-toxic

  • What are Biozaq bags made of?
Awesomeness. No really, so what’s in the bags?? A typical garbage bag, ziplock bag, or grocery store bag consists of plastic film made from a polymer called polyethylene. Over 100 million tonnes of polyethylene are manufactured each year, and polyethylene only accounts for 34% of the plastics market. Polyethylene can take decades to begin to begin to break down in perfect composting conditions at a designated facility (which is still not advised, as to preserve the quality of the soil), but the process practically takes hundreds of years when put into a home-compost bin, left as litter, or sent to the landfills. Plastics are typically ‘fossilized’ in the landfills, or left as litter, and take some 450 years to begin to break down. In the sea, plastics can achieve some photodegradation if floating on the surface and thus exposed to the sun, though this means that the UV rays simply break up the plastic films into smaller pieces called ‘microplastics’ that are then mistaken as food and consumed by marine life. The microplastics are just mini pieces of plastic films, not decomposed. Microplastics are found in the bloodstream of the entire food chain, from sea creatures to humans. Microplastics may accumulate in organs and tissues, and may even be passed on to an unborn child. If plastics do decompose, the process releases significant greenhouse gasses. BioZaq’s water soluble resins, films and bags are made from a different polymer called polyvinyl alcohol (PVA or PVOH), which is not a polyolefin based on crude oil. PVOH is made from ethylene gas (same type of gas that is produced when fruits ripen) and acetic acid (same acid as is found in vinegar), prepared via the hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate (commonly known as ‘wood glue’). There are many unique properties to PVOH films, such as its barrier properties, its relative strength, and most notably… that it dissolves in water! The ingredients are all FDA approved, and the dissolved plastic films are non-toxic.
  • Are BioZaq bags stronger than regular plastic bags?
Yes, BioZaq bags are stronger than the traditional polyethylene plastic bags.
  • Can Biozaq bags dissolve in water?
Yes, Biozaq bags can dissolve in water, which means that they won't contribute to plastic litter or microplastic pollution.
  • Are BioZaq bags biodegradable?
Yes, BioZaq bags will dissolve in water, and compost/biodegrade via microbes.
  • Can I put BioZaq bags in the washing machine?
Yes! Many facilities place their soiled or contaminated laundry into these bags; the industrial laundry companies pick up the sealed bags and throw the entire bag into the laundry machines. The plastic BioZaq bag dissolves in the wash, and the soiled laundry is then cleaned. This is done for convenience, for health purposes, and for sustainability. Whether wrapping up linens with bed bugs, uniforms full of grease, or soiled linens from healthcare facilities, water soluble laundry bags are game-changers.
  • What if my laundry is wet?
These bags can be programmed to dissolve in ‘cold water’ or ‘hot water’. Accordingly, you can stick a goldfish and water inside of the hot-soluble bags, and it will hold like a standard plastic bag; if the bag is placed into hot water, the bag will dissolve. With dozens of formulations and world renown pioneer PVOH chemists, BioZaq either has a bag for your specific application, or can adjust to meet the custom parameters.
  • Are these bags just for laundry bags?
No! The number of applications for our resins, films and bags is vast… and is rapidly expanding. From 3D printing, to measured additive packaging, to grocery store bags. Explore some more currently used applications here.
  • Are BioZaq bags safe for the environment?
Yes, BioZaq bags are safer for the environment, as they are non-toxic, can dissolve in water, and biodegradable; this means they won't contribute to plastic litter or microplastic pollution.
  • Where can I buy Biozaq bags?
Biozaq bags can be purchased from various online retailers or directly from the manufacturer's website (under construction; for stock purchases, or to distribute BioZaq bags, please contact us via phone, email, or chat box on this website).
  • How awesome are these bags?
    Extremely.
  • Does BioZaq want to discuss specific applications?
Yes! We are eager to discuss your thoughts, questions and interests. Please call, email, or chat via our chat box on this website.
